WACA Gambia briefs President Adama Barrow on the project activities and key milestones.

In a landmark meeting at State House, the WACA Gambia Project team, led by the Hon. Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Rohey John Manjang, updated the President of the Republic of The Gambia, H.E. Adama Barrow, on the Project's progress. 

The team was also joined in the meeting by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Ebrima Jawara, and the Director of the Ministry’s Central Projects Coordinating Unit (CPCU) Mariama Ndow Jarju.

During the meeting, the WACA Project Coordinator, Dr. Muhammed Lamin Sanyang, made a detailed presentation of the project objectives, activities, key milestones and challenges. He emphasized that the project is directly linked to The Gambia’s Recovery-focused National Development Plan 2023- 2027 and seeks to recue flood risks and build the resilience of communities along the Kotu Stream. The Project, he added, also seeks to strengthen national policies and public institutions.

Reacting to the presentation, the President, H.E. Adama Barrow, commended the Ministry and WACA Project and encouraged project team to work harder and collaboratively to deliver the project objectives and ensure that all interventions are sustainable.

The Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Hon. Rohey John Manjang, underscored the President’s strong interest in the project which she said is a testament to his commitment to protecting communities from disasters and strengthen their resilience.
