The Gambia hosts WACA Regional Steering Committee meeting for the first time

Members of the Regional Steering Committee (RSC) of the West Africa Coastal Areas Management Program (WACA) convened for the first time in The Gambia in June 2024. The meeting was also the first in the year convened to assess progress from the previous RSC meeting and discuss challenges and plans for the project.

The meeting was attended by RSC members from the WACA implementing countries as well as representatives of the WACA Regional Implementation Support Unit and the World Bank.

The Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Hon. Rohey John Manjang, said the launch of the WACA Project in The Gambia “represents a great boost to our national climate agenda” and described the project intervention area as “unique”.
