West african coastal study released
New data reveals erosion hotspots from Senegal to Nigeria
A groundbreaking regional study conducted by ACMP in collaboration with local universities and government agencies has mapped the most vulnerable coastal areas in West Africa. Using satellite imagery, historical shoreline data, and field surveys, the report identifies over 1,200 kilometers of high-risk coastline.
The study will serve as a foundation for targeted interventions such as shoreline stabilization, mangrove restoration, and climate adaptation strategies. ACMP is now working with local authorities to prioritize response zones and implement nature-based solutions.
